ELIGIBLE DEBILITATING MEDICAL CONDITIONS

Is the list of “debilitating medical conditions” limited? YES – As defined in section 121 of HRS-329 , a qualifying debilitating medical condition includes (Full web page here.) :

  1. Cancer,

  2. Glaucoma,

  3. Positive status for human immunodeficiency virus,

  4. Acquired immune deficiency syndrome,

  5. Post-traumatic stress disorder (added effective July 1, 2015 as per Act 241), or

  6. Rheumatoid Arthritis

  7. Multiple Sclerosis

  8. Epilepsy

  9. LUPUS

  10. “The treatment of these conditions”, or

  11. “A chronic or debilitating disease or medical condition or its treatment that produces one or more of the following:

  • Cachexia or wasting syndrome,

  • Severe pain,

  • Severe nausea,

  • Seizures, including those characteristic of epilepsy, or

  • Severe and persistent muscle spasms, including those characteristic of multiple sclerosis or Crohn’s disease.
